Appearance | Cosmo Polished Event

I had so much fun this weekend!! On Saturday morning I attended the Cosmo Polished Event with Revlon SA at the 15 on Orange Hotel in Cape Town. I dragged my sister along with me as she's totally into nails and I knew we were going to have a good time there. Although I make a great effort with my skin and hair, I must admit that my nails are the one area of my body that I often neglect. I have a very bad habit of picking at my poor cuticles and because I have limited time in the week, I sometimes don't take the time to do anything special with my nails. I reeally wanted to improve that as a woman's hands and nails are such an important part of how she presents herself, and what's the point of perfect skin and hair when you have chipped nail polish or generally unkempt nails going on. I used to get the Gelish application done quite often but it's fairly expensive to get done every week and who even has the time for that anyway. I was looking forward to learning new ways of doing my nails stylishly from the comfort of my own home.

We were treated to delicious breakfast treats upon arrival and then made our way to the work stations which were beautifully set up and contained all the essentials. Sponges, nail brushes, hand creams and of course, Revlon nail polishes in a variety of colours. The tutorials were hosted by Chi Chi of Nails of Chi Chiwho I absolutely adore and she ran us through a couple of nail styles that are definitely going to change the way I do my nails from now on. I attempted the ombre style nail look and it must not have been that bad as I was chosen as one of the five finalists for the best nails yay! We got to walk our nail art down the Cosmo 'runway' to be photographed and also enjoyed waaaay too much sugar at the Nail Candi bar later on. Cosmopolitan SA finished off the event by handing out some really awesome goodie bags and we also got to keep all the goodies we had just tested at our nails stations.

I really had a great time and met so many lovely ladies as well. The vibe was awesome and I can't wait to get my nail art on! SS

This week was all about products. Receiving products, buying products, trying products - you name it! Firstly, I totally revamped my skincare collection. I've been the using the same products for skincare for the last five years or more and since I'm in my thirties now, I really do feel like my skin requires more TLC and nourishment. I'm hoping my new Payot & Decleor range make the difference. I also experimented with nail colours and nail accessories this week after attending the Revlon & Cosmo Polished Event which you can read about hereOn a lighter note, Mugatu is growing so nicely. He is such a wonderful cat really.. and he makes me laugh quite often. Last weekend I managed to catch up with some of my favourite Cape Town bloggers at the Grey Garnet Blogger Event which was really cool. I leant a lot from the speakers in the fashion industry and left with an amaazing goodie bag! I also participated in a new feature for Legit online and I have another exciting feature coming out in August which I can't talk too much about just yet ;) Have a lovely weekend dears and thanks for reading today! My Looks | Farm Girl

I sometimes feel like living in the city often makes my head spin! We are always on the go.. on the way to work, heading to the gym, out for supper and then doing it all over again the next day. Vacations are sometimes few and far between, which is why an unexpected Saturday out to Stellenbosch turned out to be a welcome break. We spent the day at a quaint little farm called Onze Rust for a blogger event which I'll tell you about later in the week. The rain clouds seemed to sense my gratitude at being able to spend my day on this lovely little piece of land, and excused themselves for the afternoon which then turned out to be quite a pretty one!

I've been wearing my new trench coat everywhere recently. It's so easy to just throw on over anything and still look perfectly presentable. For this relaxed look, I've kept it simple with skinny jeans and a winter floral sweatshirt. This whole look is really so very easy to wear. Heels would of course normally be my shoe of choice but wellingtons were really the only option to navitage the farm. Enjoy the pictures! SS

Last week I was invited to attend the Face of Zuri 2014 Final by jewellery brand Zuri at the Milq & Honey House of Fashion, Health & Beauty. I was joined by Zahrah of the The Perry Book Blog, Sheri-Lee of SA Fashion Girl and photographer Tegan Smith who was shooting the finalists for the day. It was a lovely relaxed afternoon watching the girls getting their hair & makeup done and being their model selves. The panel eventually announed their decision that Amber Prout Jones (far right) from Sandton was crowned the overall Face of Zuri 2014 Winner. She received a hamper of Zuri jewellery, a full day spa at Milq & Honey Spa Retreat and will go onto front Zuri's new campaings and collections in all 20 of their stores countrywide this year! As runner up, Patience Dlamini (third from left) from Mossel Bay in Cape Town will also be given the opportunity to front one campaign with Amber. Exciting stuff :) Be sure to keep an eye out for them! SS

Hey Everyone! You may have seen my last lookpost which was shot at Onze Rust Farm in Stellenbosch HERE. I was invited last weekend to attend the Blog Addicts Meetup and asked to give a little talk to the other bloggers who had attended, along with Kayli Vee of Food Blog & Zahrah of The Perry Book Blog. I must tell you that I was beyond nervous! Totally weird for an attorney who speaks in Court all the time right? Exactly! I think it was different for me in this scenario because it had not really sunk in for me yet that I am actually a blogger with 2 years of experience that has something valuable to say. I guess I always just feel that I am learning like everyone else but when I sat down to prepare the main points of my talk, I realised I have achieved a lot in the last few years and it was definitely something I wanted to share with anyone who wanted to know :)

The actual event was absolutely lovely! I'm all about being well organized so when we arrived to perfectly prepared name tags and a beautifully set up venue, I was more than in my element. I really do prefer when events have a little bit of a program in place as it demonstrates to me that the organiser values the time that the blogger has made available and has tried to make the most of it. We participated in a few interactive activities to break the ice and get to know one another a little better and then it was time for my talk... eeek! No Im kidding ;) It actually turned out quite well and once I started talking, I felt much more at ease seeing all the smiling faces looking back at me. I really hope I managed to leave the other bloggers with a few helpful tips.

We thereafter went on a little stroll around the property with owner, Esther Bezuidenhout and enjoyed a delicious plate of snacks to finish off the afternoon. Thank you to Blog Addict for inviting me and to all the lovely sponsors (end of post) for our goodie bags. SS

Hey Everyone! Hope you are all enjoying your long weekend so far :) In today's post, I'm sharing a few snaps of theMaajiLaunch I attended last Thursday night. I was two-minded about going because it's always such a mad rush from work but as I told my boyfriend.."Everyone is going, I have to go." As you can see, my reasoning is very mature ;) Luckily my lovely friend Zahrah picked me up and we managed to get there in time. Despite the rest of Cape Town being in the middle of an icy winter, the venue for the night, Rocca in the Cape Quarter, was heated wonderfully to transport us to a summery warm island fantasy. Models greeted us at the entrance dressed in the latest Maaji swimwear collection and we were given a little treasure map to navigate the venue. Activities to complete included a nail bar with the latest featuring the Maaji collection by TOYnailpolish. We then moved on to the hair station for a mini hair makeover and lastly, my favourite, the photobooth by Nifty250 where we could print our Instagram snaps taken that night.

If you're not familiar with the brand, Maaji is a Columbian company manufacturing swimwear for the young, eclectic woman. The trademark fabric is vibrant colours reflecting the rich taspestry of Columbia and with a very exotic feel. I don't own a piece by Maaji myself but after checking out the pieces on show, and they way they fitted the model'd bodies, one can tell that the quality of the fabric is very high. I think I might just save up for summer! You can view the Maaji swimwear rangeHERE.

Hey Everyone! I was thinking this weekend about how easily I sometimes part with items when hosting my Shop my Closet sales. I was crazy about some of those pieces at one point but I don't worry myself too much when I know there is someone who will better appreciate them. Then there are others.. those that I cannot let go of. Some hold special memories of a time or place I'd like to remember, others have sentimental value that bring a smile to my face whenever I wear them. Some are just hand me downs that I like to keep as it reminds me of when I lived at home with my sisters and we shared everything in our closets. This particular off white cardigan is dear to me as it was a gift from my Mum. It's warm and cosy and pure and I love wearing it on chilled sundays. It reminds me of home :)

Today I need YOUR help to provide others less fortunate with an opportunity to create their own special memories. Have you guys heard of The Princess Project? They are a really awesome organisation who sponsor less privileged matriculant girls with outfits for their matric farewells. How wonderful to think that girls who might otherwise have had nothing to wear will now be given an opportunity to feel like princesses at their matric dance!

In collaboration withSKIP South Africa, I am calling on all my followers to share your favourite items of clothing which hold a special memory for you. You do not have to donate anything, but simply upload a picture or video of your favourite item to the Skip South Africa Facebook Page HERE, tell them who sent you and use the hashtag #sharethelove. Just by completing this small task, Skip will donate R500 for every upload to The Princess Project. Just think what a big difference we could make together! I am soooo excited to be a part of this project and I am hoping you all will support the cause. In fact, I'll also be giving away a goodie bag from me personally to a lucky SS reader just for taking part! In based in Jozi, you can also head down to Fourways Mall Junction Court from 23rd June - 29th June 2014 and take part in the fun by uploading your pictures and videos to the Skip FB Page there.

I'm reaaalllyy excited to see what you guys come up with! Please feel free to interact on this project with me by leaving your comments below, tweeting me or getting in touch however you wish. And lastly, a huge thank you to you all :) I know my SS followers are going to pull together for this good cause. SS

Hey Everyone! So the Vodacom Durban July 2014is just around the corner and it seems that everyone is gearing up to look their most fabulous this year. Besides the actual horseracing, I'm pretty sure most of us are only attending for fashion and to see who wore what. This year's theme is 'The Big Screen' and celebrates the prestige of the movie industry with a nod to old school glamour and elegance. If you're attending and haven't settled on anything to wear yet, I popped in at Forever New and picked out a few options for you. The new Paris Belle collection has recently hit stores and seems as if it was designed especially for me! The collection is inspired by the eternal style of Parisienne women in signature feminine elegance - my fave! If you're not in the mood for going OTT at the races, these simple, classy designs will be right up your alley. There also many other options available in store if you want to go full length and a bit more dressy. I've picked a few of my favourites to provide you with some inspiration. I'm also giving away a R1000 voucher to spend at the Forever New store closest to you to a lucky winner :)

Love these mini dresses in store and can one ever really go wrong in a striking white lace number?

Channel Kate Middleton style in these beautifully elegant shift dresses.

Black is never fail option for stylish simplicity.

My Looks | Karma #ShareTheLove

Lately I've had quite a few wonderful opportunities that have come my way. It could be a case of just being in the right place at the right time, or some might attribute it to being lucky but I personally like to believe that its some sort of karma. Without getting too philosophical on you, I've witnessed from my own experiences that opening yourself up to life and all its goodness sends a certain amount of energy out into the universe and its inevitable that in that process, the same type of energy makes its way back to you. Sometimes, just doing or saying the smallest thing to help someone can return blessings to you in ways you cannot imagine.

At the moment, I am involved in Skip South Africa's latest initiative to provide less fortunate girls with opportunities that probably come so easy to many of us. On their Facebook Page HERE, Skip SA has posted a selection of videos featuring girls from The Princess Project. Each time a Video is shared, Skip SA will donate R500 to The Princess Project to ensure that underprivileged girls get to feel like princesses at their matric farewell and have something beautiful wear on their special night. It's such a wonderful thing to able to attribute a fond memory to an item of clothing. Please #sharethelove and help give less fortunate girls the matric dance dress of their dreams. SS

Beauty | Current Skincare Must Haves

I'm often asked about my skin care routine. If there is one thing I can tell you is that it is always changing and especially being in my thirties now, my skin requires a lot more from me than it did a decade ago. The routine I had when I first started this blog, even though it might not even seem that long ago, is completely different to the one I am following now. Our poor skins are constantly having to adapt to different environments, weather conditions, our eating habits and general lifestyle. The latter plays a huge part in the appearance of our skin and about a month ago I had a terrible breakout all around my chin area. It probably wasn't even noticeable to anyone else but me for someone who almost never gets pimples, I was mortified! I had been overdoing it completely with work and the blog, attending events straight after leaving the office, eating on the go and not getting enough sleep and boy did it show up in my skin. It was time for a change..

I took about a week break from everything and really evaluated what my skin was needing from me. Besides the breakout, I would often have dark under eye circles from lack of sleep and I felt that my general complexion was looking a bit dull. Now I must tell you, I am not one who believes that price tag = effectiveness. I have been using the most inexpensive off the shelf products for years and all throughout my twenties and I've never had a problem. I think it is only recently now with my double life pressures and changed lifestyle that I decided to invest more in my skincare products. Here is what I am currently using:

DECLEOR AROMA CLEANSE EYE MAKEUP REMOVER GEL:

I can state without hesitation that this is the BEST eye makeup remover I have ever used. At almost R300.00 a bottle, I was expecting a lot. I'm happy to report that I was not disappointed. The gel is highly effective and because of that, a little goes a long way. With previous cheaper formulations, I would have to saturate almost the entire cotton wool pad to make sure there was enough product to remove my eye makep. This non-oily gel easily removes even the most stubborn of my eye makeup, including waterproof mascara and you only need the tiniest amount. I am also a contact lens wearer so the fact that it is opthalmologically tested and safe for contact lens wearers is the cherry on top. Check it out HERE.

PAYOT MOUSSE NETTOYANTE GEL CLEANSER

To be honest, gel cleansers are kinda not my thing. I prefer rich super foamy cleansers that lather up all over my face and make me feel like a marshmellow. I think it's a psychological thing though.. the idea that if the foam is going everywhere then it must be cleansing my face well. I decided to purchase this antibacterial gel as it promised to cleanse and refresh skin, improving suppleness and leaving a protective film. After getting used to the fact that it is not going to lather like soap, I have absolutely fallen in love with this bottle of goodness. How it works is that you need to apply one pump into the palm of your hand and then work that up into a mild lather. It does get a little bit foamy, but very lightly, and the smell is just delightful. The thing I love most about it is that it is the kind of product where you can feel a difference after using it for the first time. It leaves my skin super soft and hydrated - I sometimes wash my face a second time just because its so lekker ;) This particular cleanser is aimed at oily/combination skin and after a month of using it, my skin is completely clear, lovely and smooth and most importantly, has a healthy glow to it. View it HERE

PAYOT TONIQUE PURIFIANT (TONER)

Don't worry, I can't pronounce it either! I'm still not convinced that toning is a 100% necessary step but since I was out shopping for products anyway, I picked up this alcohol free one from Payot. I often skip toner as I get worried about my skin becoming too tight or dried out but this one does nothing of the sort. I actually only use it at night before my bedtime moisturizer and it has a lovely refreshing effect. Apparently the green coffee extract stimulates the skin and prepares it better to receive its treatment so I'm hoping that by using it continually, I am putting my skin in a better position to absorb my moisturisers. View it HERE.

PAYOT CREME MATIFIANTE HYDRATING GEL CREME (DAY)

Again.. pricey, but oh so worth it. This is just a beautiful cream (for lack of a better word). It has a gorgeous rich texture that just melts into my skin and brightens my complexion. I feel like the firmness and elasticity of my skin has really improved over the last month and my complexion is glowing. I love that it hydrates and mattifies in one step and actually preps my skin perfectly for foundation in the morning. The only downside is that this moisturizer is most ideal for skin without blemishes so it does not treat or heal problem skin.

DECLEOR AROMA NIGHT YLANG YLANG PURIFYING NIGHT BALM

Where do I start with this one? I was on the verge of purchasing a night cream from the Payot line when I actually won this little tub of gold in a giveaway. Lucky me as it's something I definitely would never thought of buying, firstly because I'd never considered a night balm to be moisturising and secondly, because this one retails at about R800 - eek! I should have done my research before trying it out because the first night I actually applied it completely incorrectly. I took a massive glob of it out of the jar and smeared it all over my cleansed face and ended up looking like a deep-fried McNugget. I was pissed.. !I The next day I actually sat down and read all the reviews I could find on this highly praised range. "Apply a pea sized amount or less and warm between your fingertips." Oooooh! I was doing it completely wrong. I cannot even stress how little of this balm you need to apply at night. I take the teeniest amount and warm it gently between my fingers and then I pat it all over my face and allow it to absorb. A little goes a really long way! The smell is absolutely divine and if you were sceptical like me about whether a balm can provide the same amount of nourishment as a moisturiser, believe me when I say that this one absolutely can. The fact that only need to use a little bit is quite comforting since it's so expensive and not something that most of us can afford to buy every month. I reckon this one is going to last me a solid year for the least. At night I literally feel as if I am feeding my face nutrients with this 100% natural balm.  View it HERE

PAYOT SPECIAL RIDES MASQUE (Intense Radiance)

I'm all about the glow girls! This is a super luxurious mask which I only apply to my skin about once a week. This is a high performance cream aimed at diminishing and correcting wrinkles so I would only use it every so often as a treat. It could end up being too rich for the skin if used too frequently. This is a great product to use if you need instant results after a night out. It immediately smoothes the surface of the skin and reinforces it's elasticity. It's like a little energy drink for your skin! I love the healthy glow it leaves and I definitely feel like I look more youthful after using it.

So there you go! I also use an eye cream both in the mornings and at night but I haven't really settled on one brand completely yet. I used Optiphi Classic Eye Effect for quite a while and it worked pretty well but I'm currently trying La Prairie Anti Ageing Eye Cream which is really excellent so far. I'll come back to you on this one.

I hope this post provided some information and insight where needed and I'll be back with my current makeup faves next week sometime. Remember that although a good range of products will aid your skin journey, it is still extremely important to feed your skin from the inside out. Eating well, getting enough rest and minimizing stress all play their part as well. Thanks for reading! SS

Travel Diaries | Beachside Camps Bay Penthouse

Hey Everyone! Last weekend I had the opportunity to stay at and review a beautiful seaside villa in Camps Bay called Beachside. It actually is not too far from my own apartment but even 2 days away from home can feel like a holiday! I was told that I would be staying on the top floor, The Penthouse, and would have the entire place to myself! Upon arrival and in true luxury, I took an elevator to the front door of my lodgings where the doors opened to my own private retreat overlooking Camps Bay Beach.

Three large bedrooms, and all with modern en suite bathrooms, make up this very spacious home away from home. The space is completely secluded so you're not sharing the floor with anyone else. There is a fully equiped kitchen with absolutely everything you may need when entertaining guests or if you're cooking for your own family while on vacation. My favourite space was definitely the lounge and dining area which leads onto a spacious patio boasting 3 sun beds, an outdoor dining area, a gas braai and a heated jacuzzi. I'm sure you can guess where I spent most of my time ;)

The decor is very homely which means you're not going to feel as if you're in a hotel. I was actually tempted to just sleep on the lounge sofa's as they were massive and oh so comfy! My only criticism with this space is that the television set is just a little bit too small for such a big space. I'm thinking a big screen would have suited it much better but to be honest, you're not really going to watch any television when you have a 360 degree view of the Twelve Apostles outside your window or a two minute walk to the beachfront. Obvs I had to shoot a lookpost out there which you can view HERE.

My bathroom was fully decked out with his and her sinks, a massive bath tub, spacious shower and a french style bidet. Since there was so much lxury (and space) to share, I had my famiy over on both days to visit and relax and enjoy the experience with me. The jacuzzi turned into a mini pool when my niece and nephew arrived of course, and in the evening I could relax solo and totally wind down. Really a lovely weekend break! Thanks for reading today. I'll admit that I wasn't always a fan, but it seems that the denim shirt is a wardrobe staple and is here to stay. A key item for Winter 2014, these cute and versatile pieces can be styled in so many ways and can also be worn throughout the seasons. I found this super comfy one in a softer fabric and decided to let it take centre stage in my weekend look. If you're pairing it with leggings as I have here, you want to make sure that the shirt is long enough to cover your both your bum and front bits. Teaming a denim shirt with a pair of black leggings is one of the simplest ways to look effortlessly trendy. The look however, can be a bit plain, so I'd recommend adding some finishing touches in the form of interesting accessories like the deer collar neckpiece I've selected here. What's your favourite way to wear the denim shirt? I'd love to know! SS

By Cape Town Correspondent Bianca Hartel:

Last Thursday I braved the Cape Town storms and headed out to 229 Bree Street - home to Missibaba, a local (and might I add, luxurious) accessory design brand founded by the lovely Chloe Townsend. Unbrellas in tow, Cape Town's Fash Pack were welcomed to the store for a first hand look at the brand's new Colour Block Capsule Collection. We were treated to yummy cocktails and sweet treats while we perused the new sixties inspired collection of handbags, belts and accessories. The collection is laden with interesting textures, geometric shapes and bold colour, all beautifully handcrafted from locally sourced leather, and is right on trend for the upcoming Spring fashion season. For us still facing a bit of winter cold, the collection's versatility allows for it to be seamlessly incorporated into a winter wardrobe for a refreshing pop of colour. Versatility and timelessness are easily associated with the Missibaba brand. I found myself attracted to pieces from previous collections, such as the monochrome traveller bags ad classic leather duffels and totes which remain in style effortlessly. Partner store, Kirsten Goss Jewellery, showcased some beautiful pieces as well, with neckpieces, earrings and arm candy using bold geometric shapes that could easily be paired with the new Missibabacollection.

Hello my darlings! And a happy Friday :) Six days into Ramadaan and I'm feeling good. It's just so cold lately all the time that I have turned to my ever reliable collection of coats to get me through this Winter. This cobalt blue beauty is hardly new but I still enjoy wearing it so much. Needless to say, the colour is eye catching and bold and always scores me lots of compliments at the office. More often than not, we are perhaps drawn to darker and more sombre colours to reflect our winter moods. Wy not change things around this season by investing in a coloured coat that brightens up the day and puts a smile on your face!

Last Friday I took a day off work and drove out to the beautiful Buitenverwachting wine farm in Constantia. The event was a preview of the new Spring/Summer 2014 Collection by London footwear brand, Dune who have recently opened shop here in SA. I decided to dress down just a little, seeing as we were being hosted on a 'farm' of sorts, but as usual, Cape Town's fashion circle never fail to impress, no matter where the venue! In fact, I felt a bit underdressed to be honest ;) I arrived to all my favourite blogger friends and fashion editors and it's always such a treat to see everyone and catch up.

We enjoyed some coffee and canapes to begin with while taking in the beautiful surroundings and the gorgeous day. The international brand manager for Dune led us through the trends for the upcoming season and also explained the inspiration behind the various themes, pairings and colour choices. It was very informative getting a run through of the collection and there are quite a few pieces that I already have my eye on. I'm always impartial to pointy court heels as they are perfect for the office and I spotted some beautiful ones in monochrome and nude tones to suit any outfit. The pastel coloured pieces were inevitably what also drew my attention as well as the tones were soft, ladylike and ever so pretty. Here are some pictures of the event below.. Do you have any favourite pieces? SS

Quality clothing has gotten increasingly expensive and very few of us can afford to go out and buy a whole new wardrobe each season. This current economic climate has created opportunities for events like fashion exchanges, otherwise referred to as 'Swishing' events in the UK. These events bring women together where items in great condition are traded for other items thereby refreshing one's wardrobe at no extra cost! Skip decided to bring this concept to a larger market through the Skip Fashion Exchange events. Launched in 2012, this event gives like-minded women the unique opportunity to gain access into another woman's wardrobe while finding homes for their own previously loved and treasured fashion items. Im sure we've all done something similar with our own friends or siblings right? The Skip Fashion Exchange offers an opportunity to do the same but on a grander scale with an exchange opportunity involving hundreds of other women.

Skip understands the value women assign to their clothing, they capture a woman's mood, personality and style. How we as women dress is never an accident and though clothes may not be our life, they certainly are an essential part of how we present ourselves to the world. Skip's brand manager, Kerry Cuppusamy adds the following 'When we started the Fashion Exchange events, we knew we had something valuable to offer. The Skip Fashion Exchange allows woman to use their clothes as currency - You get to update your wardrobe at no cost as well as enjoy a glamorous evening with fellow fashion trendsetters." Another positive consequence of events like these and one that speaks to me personally is that this events appeal to women who are conscious of the environment and the effect that excessive consumerism has had on it. I love this idea because it's a way to get your clothing 'fix' and still contribute positively to the environment. Essentially an eco-fabulous way to share the love for clothes ;)

The theme of the 2014 events is 'I love what you're wearing." Which woman doesn't enjoy hearing that?! Skip describes this year's events as real show stoppers. Guests will be treated to a three course meal, fashion exposes and award-winning local entertainment. The 2014 events will be run exclusively in Johannesburg (sob for me!) starting off on 17 July at Urban Tree, followed by 21 August at Katy's Palace and finally, 30 October at Turbine Hall. How fabulous to have a chance to share your love for fashion and enjoy the benefit of on-site stylists as well.

Tickets are on sale at R280.00 a person HERE. When prompted, please use the username 'SKIP' and password'Fashion exchange'to login and open the gateway to style.

Catrice Makeup Review & Giveaway!

I've been using Catrice products for while before being approached by the brand to do this Giveaway. I think that's a testament to the fact that the brand is one which I would spend my own money on. Of course I was a bit skeptical about the quality as the entire range is so affordable and that can sometimes mean that the products lack intensity or longevity, but I'm happy to report that I've been pleasantly surprised with most of the items I've tried. Catrice's products (both ingredients and end result) are not tested on animals according to their website, so that's always a selling point for me. Here is a quick review of some of my faves:

Catrice Matt Mousse Makeup

I'd never used a mousse makeup before this one as I always assumed the texture was quite dry and would suit an oiler skin type. Cakey foundation is my biggest no-no but I wouldn't decline a makeup promising an even finish with invisible pores and lines. Before beginning, I quickly prep my skin with Catrice Prime & Fine Smoothing Refiner which creates a smooth, soft and even base for your foundation to be applied to. I then apply the matt mousse makeup with a foundation sponge all over my face except my eyelids and undereye area, which I prefer to deal with separately. The foundation is lightweight and airy when applied sparingly, giving me a natural and mattified effect. I personally like the fact that although it has a bit of a powdery consistency, it is not heavy on my face and can be built up gradually layer by layer if you require more coverage. It generally stays put throughout the work day but if you're heading out after, you'd probably need to touch up again to refresh your look. Unfortunately this foundation does not come in an assortment of colours which is quite a pity and my skin colour just nicely fitted into the 'warm beige' category since I've gone paler now that it's Winter.

Catrice Allround Concealer & Catrice Re-Touch Light Reflecting Concealer

A palette of options can never be a bad thing in my book. The Catrice AllRound Concealer Palette contains 5 shades to fix an array of imperfections. I posted it on Instagram when I first purchased it and a few of you were confused by all the colours. The skintone shades are to even out small irregularities (beige shades), dark under eye shadows can be countered by using the pink shade and green can be used to neutralise any redness on the skin. This is really an everyday product for me and I love the creamy texture.

New to my makeup bag is the Catrice Retouch Light Reflecting concealer. I had no idea what I was missing out on. I usually just apply a quick spot of foundation under my eyes but using a light reflecting concealer instead has really changed my view on things (excuse the pun!) This built in twist brush pen allows you to apply gentle sweeping strokes underneath the delicate eye area with ease or any other place you may need. The formulation is wonderfully creamy and blends very well. Remember to apply concealer about half an inch below the bottom lash line. Light reflects upwards so this will brighten dark circles.

Catrice Sun Glow Matt Bronzing Powder.

Want to try your hand at contouring? I first attempted it with this matt bronzing powder. I'm relatively fair of complexion so an all over bronzed look is not quite my thing. You can use it though to create an all over naturally tanned look in the summer. I prefer to use just a sweep of it directly under my cheeckbones to create a light shadow as well as along my temples and the sides of my nose. This is an easy and everyday way to contour without any fuss.

Hello my Darlings! I've been in a strange mood the last couple of weeks. So much in my life is changing.. for the better I'm sure, but the uncertainty until that happens is unbearable! I'm not much of a patient person. I like things to happen NOW. Excitement is supposed to be a wonderful and joyous feeling but I find it painful and unnecessary. It really is one of my worst qualities, but also the one what has allowed me to achieve everything that I have been able to. I simply cannot wait. For Anything. I make plans, and before I can even enjoy the results, I'm onto the next thing/project/journey/relationship. It's hard to fight one's natural tendencies, but sometimes I feel its ultimately necessary if one wishes to enjoy peace of mind of any kind. I've got big plans lined up. But for now, and I will force myself if I have to, I need to take a step back. The present moment demands my attention more than the unknown future. Im determined to enjoy it. SS
